For those who are interested in migrating to Canada, the immigration department of Canada has recently released six new immigration streams for international graduates and essential workers. They are taking this initiative because immigrants make their workforce and skilled labour mostly.

Canada has set up a target of incorporating 401,000 new immigrants by the end of 2021. Therefore, it has launched six new immigration streams to incorporate immigrants as permanent residents of Canada.

The recent limited-time immigration pathways have gone live from 12:00 PM EST of May 6, 2021 and will close on November 5 of this year when all the streams have attained their maximum capacity. The following are the six new immigrations streams introduced by the Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC):

  • International graduates – 40,000 applications
  • French-speaking international graduates – no cap
  • Stream A Workers in Canada – Health care workers (20,000 applications)
  • Stream B Workers in Canada – Essential non-health care workers (30,000 applications)
  • Stream A Workers in Canada (French-speaking) – Health care workers
  • Stream B Workers in Canada (French-speaking) – Essential non-health care workers

What are the requirements?

Applicant requirements are as follows:

  • The application acceptance process is based on first come, first served basis.
  • Quebec citizens can be eligible as long as they can prove to the officer that they intend to move to another province.
  • Self-employed experience will not be considered.
  • The fees can be paid in advance online and the receipt can be uploaded at the time of application submission.
  • Immigrants can apply to multiple streams but have to pay a separate fee for each application.
  • The applicant must be working in Canada at the time of applying. They can be in any occupation but should have completed at least 1560 working hours in an eligible occupation within a duration of three years. For those who are applying to the graduate stream should provide a Canadian credential.
  • Applicants must submit a complete application with all supporting documents including results of the language tests and pay the application fee.
  • Wet signatures aren’t needed as there would be attestation at the end of the online application which would serve as the signature.

What is the application process?

  • Applicants must visit the government website and use a tool to select the immigraion stream to which they can apply.
  • After this, they can create an account with their email id, verify the email address and begin validating and submitting their forms with 2D barcodes.
  • After uploading all the relevant documents at the right spots, they would find an acknowledgement and consent form along with a privacy statement.

How to submit application?

Once the applicant approves the privacy and consent agreements, they can then click the giant blue “Submit” button located at the end of the application. After this, a page would pop-up confirming the submission of the application.

How to check status?

After filling the form, the status of the application can be checked on the IRCC website.
