The Indian Express,
Through the columns of your newspaper, I like to express my views about the evil of cramming among students.
The standard of education is going down day by day. A great evil prevalent among the students is cramming some important questions and taking the examination. Their knowledge is half-baked. They do not even know what they are reading. Our system of education is defective. It has encouraged the evil of mugging up a few important and expected questions from the textbooks or guides, keys, and mug books. Teachers in the classes are also not very serious about proper teaching. In this way, these days, the level of knowledge of the students has become very shallow. They may have degrees but their knowledge of the subjects is very poor.
It will be quite helpful if the internal assessment is also made by holding monthly tests. In this way, students will become more regular and give up the habit of cramming. It is hoped that the University authorities will take note of these suggestions.
