Informal Letter Writing To Father Requesting To Increase Monthly Allowance

March 15, 20…
My dear Father,
I received your money-order yesterday. In this letter, I am going to bother you with a request to increase my monthly allowance by Rs. 500. You know that living has become very costly during recent months.
Prices are rising day by day. This has hit us hard. The meal charges in the hostel mess have been increased. Milk and fruit have also become costlier. The prices of textbooks and stationery have gone up. Even the dhobi has raised his rates.
After paying these essential charges, I am hardly left with any money. Now that my examination is approaching, I need some help-books and stationery, etc. Dear father, I know your difficulties. Ours is a large family. You are the only earning member. An increase in my monthly allowance will be an additional burden on you. But there is no help for it. I am not a spendthrift.
The rising prices have, in fact, robbed me of my pocket money. So I request for an increase in my allowance. I assure you that I would be quite economical and will not waste your hard-earned money. You would not like me to cut down on milk and fruit. I have to work hard. Therefore, I must keep fit. Should I expect to get an increase in my allowance next month?
with best regards to mother and love to Kittie,
